I just wanted to remind everyone to use the SEARCH feature before requesting. (RULE 1!)
Not the "is this being discussed?" little window when you post, the proper search function on the top right hand corner.

Paste the FULL proper release name and search.

There has been WAY too many duplicate requests lately that are easily found with the search.
This is taking up a lot of my time that I wish to use in filling requests, not dealing with lazy people and reward them with a warning (or a temp ban if you are a repeat offender).

Stop wasting my time and USE IT!

PS: if your release does not show up (or requires some search voodoo to show up) and is reported for DUPE you will not be punished. <- If I can't find it with a simple FULL release name search then I don't expect you to either.
Thanks.

Making new accounts after a ban will result in you getting banned again (and again)...

Just wanted to "plead" for some: sometimes search with full release name don't bring anything, when partial name search work.
Sometimes they don't even search...

If you make a mistake, Report the topic and we will remove it without giving a warning.

Maybe add to the RULE displayed at the top of the page to search for FULL RELEASE NAME. When I've used the search, I would type in something like "Robinson" and it comes up with nothing even though I know I've requested it before. Adding an asterisk or changing lower case to upper sometimes works, but confusing. I do my best before asking for something, and I don't think I've duplicated a request, hopefully not, but adding to rule #1 to search for the FULL RELEASE NAME would help a ton for newbies.

That being said, I'd rather not have to ask for fills if they would show up on the regular torrent search page. I've ran into this issue for the current season of Robinson (Swedish) they are not being posted. Luckily I can grab my own from TV4 website but easier to get it from here (and extremely thankful for those fills that are completed!!!)

Rule displayed at the top has been adjusted.
Hope this covers everything a bit better now.

Greetings

I have searched with the full release name to avoid duplication and mistakes, but there are times when even searching with the exact name of the review on https://www.srrdb.com and pasting the title into the search engine as indicated by the regulations, it appears that there are no results for that release. I mention this because there are CDs that have the same name but the songs or scene change, or sometimes it seems to have the same title and scene but the content of the album changes, and the unexpected typo results. On rare occasions, if I report the error when it's too late and the request is made and cannot be modified, it automatically appears that a mistake was indeed made. But there are times when it isn't, and I admit that I have received warnings of a future ban if it happens, even if I try to be as careful as possible.

Sometimes searching with the full name does not show existing topics. In that case you will NOT receive a warning for a DUPE request.
(If I can not find it easily then you are safe. Others may find it and I will merge your request with the existing topic)

If you make a mistake you can always report your request to a moderator and we will fix it for you.
Self reported topics do NOT get warnings.

Mistaken can happen, most of the time warnings are only given on the 2nd or 3rd occurrence on the same day.
If I see your name daily in the reports for DUPE then you are wasting our time by being lazy and will get a warning.

Warnings are deleted at times, being here since 2023 and making a mistake every now and then should not be a punishment.

More searching = less dupes = less work to merge topics = happier everyone.

If you feel the need to talk to me in a private message to discuss your warnings (present or past), feel free to do so.

Hi, I think the search function is not working properly.

Please try this:
Search for this release: Aaliyah-Try_Again_REMIXES_(Vinyl)-2000-RNS
When I try, I get "No results found."
But actually there are these two threads in the forum:
https://scnlog.me/forum/threads/aaliyah-try_again_remixes_-vinyl-2000-rns.162929/
https://scnlog.me/forum/threads/aaliyah-try_again_remixes_-vinyl-2000-rns.123948/

Edit: Ok, I understand that this might be one of the few (?) cases where the search doesn't show any existing topics. But I'm still surprised that the search function works in some cases but not in others.

The trick is to search by what the search engine considers words/tokens.
It seems that it cuts/tokenizes your topic/search terms into words by "-" or " " (space); underscores are considered to be part of words.
It also seems to remove other special chars (like the parenthesizes), we can see that in the URLs of the two topics you pasted.
So your release actually contains 5 words: Aaliyah, Try_Again_REMIXES_, Vinyl, 2000, RNS
That might be a little bit tricky to guess for each release so in your case, it would be easier to search for either Aaliyah or Try_Again_REMIXES_.
You can find a word easily (at least on Firefox) by double clicking on a part of the release name, your browser should select a word the same way it is indexed by the search engine.
In the end, I would advise to never rely on the Is this already being discussed? suggestion and use explicit search instead.

The search button works only when you try to find the exact same name. Otherwise, you obtain the big nah. Despite the admin's suggestion, "is this being discussed?" part is very well for me.

Yes, in the vast majority of cases it does. But in the specific case above it didn't work, even though the search string and topic matched.

Ratabloc, thank you very much for the excellent explanation. It helped me to understand how the search works. (y)
