Hi,

I know most movie releasers are team or group. Music releasers may be the same. Still, collecting physical materials is superexpensive. How can they afford? Are they really wealthy people or do they earn something by releasing?

Sorry to get your time wasted.

I started out in the music scene just before WEB-releases became a thing. Let me tell you: the guys who pre'd the most releases didn't pay for that stuff. Usually they worked in an industry where they had access to music. Think of a radio station, a record shop, a DJ... Have you ever heard about the book/documentary 'How Music Got Free'? Some rippers talk about how they got their music. Let's just say some were very inventive!

Releasing music or movies doesn't earn you any money, but you do get FTP access to sites that have every new scene release as soon as it's pre'd. Of course with sites like SCNLOG this is a lot less valuable now than it once was. But for guys with full-time jobs who don't have access to special sources it might be worth to spend let's say $50 a month on movies/music so they can download all releases they want with one click.

And in case you're wondering: all the WEB-releases that are being released nowadays were obtained for free as well.
