Can anyone tell me is it true that all files that are 1k+ days older are gone forever? I know that there was some kind of data loss in datacentres... I just tried to download some of my stuff that I had on usenet and all of it is gone, atleast on usenet.agency...

There are A LOT of files from 2021-2023 that are completely gone.
All the services deny they are deleting, but the PURGE is happening and it's expanding (in both directions).

.. nobody can keep all that forever while charging peanuts for accounts.

My backbones:
Omicron (AMS)
Abavia (NL)
UsenetFarm (NL)*/Giganews (US,NL)/UsenetExpress (US/NL)*

I had Frugal and another one in the mix to cover all the big ones .. made no difference. The files are GONE.

Yup, I saw that reddit post, not only those from 2021-2023, I have files that are from 2019 that have been purged... Unless they don't put some kind of cap on uploading, Usenet is gone...

Agreed.
Read somewhere that only 10% of uploads are downloaded, so it looks like a deliberate attack on the platform.
Noticed that files from nzbking, typically 99% chance they would be downloadable with omicron servers are a hit and miss lately.
Have seen a massive increase in failed downloads since last year. It's worrying and annoying.
