I understand that updates are cumulative and can use valuable resources. Luckily for myself I have dual 12 bay Rackstation storage so space is not an issue. There are times when an update could fix one problem but break something else or even create a hole within the programme to allow users to do something they shouldn't, that is subsequently fixed in the next update. So for this and completeness within my collection I like to retain as many, if not all, updates as possible.

I do understand the examples you listed, and I don't get how these companies expect the average user to keep up with this nonsense or even those companies that sell you a physical game copy and then expect you to download 30gig just to start playing. These people should be brought to task.

On a related note, if you thought SUXXORS were stupid for doing this, leave it to VENOM to outshine their subgroup with the absolute retardation (and obvious trolling) that is NBA_2K25_NSW-VENOM.

The publisher cheaps out on the cartridge each year - small indie studio, please understand - which forces customers to download updates, that are multiple times the size of the incomplete $60 worthless piece of plastic's base data (XCI), from the slow eShop and via the console's terrible I/O over and over again, because NSW updates are cumulative. Now VENOM decided to make this situation even worse by releasing the base game (2.4 GiB) together with the day one patch (34.9 GiB), despite the latter not fitting rule 4.1's "small" by any definition, for zero benefit to anyone.

Since during each year-long lifecycle of the previous five entries in this series there were around 10 updates on average, which have completely dominated the all-time largest NSW scene releases

and are growing year by year, this may soon mean having to download 100 GiB of data for just one title...

Then again, if you actually want to play this "game", especially on a garbage console (tautology), that can't even handle sprite-based 2D games without shitting the bed, you deserve everything you get.

Only took them three weeks, though the size difference between the base and update NSPs is even larger now (2.4 GiB vs. 50.9 GiB)...

EA_SPORTS_FC_25_Standard_Edition_Update_v1.74.122_NSW-VENOM is 17.6 GiB...
